I would prefer not to disassemble the ribbon connector on the cable assembly,
but instead make a new cable with a 24 pin header on the board end.
The pin connections in the 24 pin header (A6A1W1) are as follows (from the R-2174A(P)/URR manual):
RS-232 data out
Logic ground
No connection (RS422 data out)
Logic ground
RS-232 data in
Logic ground
RS-232 data return (strap to logic ground for RS-232)
Logic ground
Receiver address digit 1, bit 0 (LSB)
Receiver address digit 1, bit 1
Receiver address digit 1, bit 2
Receiver address digit 1, bit 3 (MSB)
Receiver address digit 2, bit 0 (LSB)
Receiver address digit 2, bit 1
Receiver address digit 2, bit 2
Receiver address digit 2, bit 3 (MSB)
Parity select
Even/odd parity select
Baud rate select bit 3 (MSB)
Baud rate select bit 2
Baud rate select bit 1
Baud rate select bit 0 (LSB)
Logic ground
Logic ground
If you mount miniature hex-coded or rocker switches, connected to the address/select lines,
on the panel that houses the DB-9 connector, you get the convenience of switch selected communications parameters and receiver address.
