[Premium-Rx] Racal 6790/GM remote connector

I want to install a DB9 connector in place of the 26 pin connector on the A6
board.  I would like to make the change "reversible"  

Does the 3m connector at W1 come apart easily so that I could put in a new
ribbon cable?  I would plan to fabricate a new aluminum bracket to support
the A6 board and hold the DB9 connector.  If this works, I might add a
couple of switches to set the baud, parity, etc.  What can anyone tell me
about W1?
