Hi all!

Thank you Don! I did what you suggested (removing all connectors and
reseated them) this morning. The receiver seems to be working fine now. And
we did some more excellent catches today: probably Fiji on 639, 684 and 1152
(we are just working through the recordings, at least we have a Pacific
station in parallel on these three frequencies) + Samoa 540, probably Tahiti
(again only with France Inter) 738, Tonga 1017, Marshall Islands super
strong on 1098 and an UNID on 1224 that we are working on. Great to have the
best receiver working!

Thank you for all the input I got in this emergency call!

I have 7 of these (plus one WJ8711A and 4 WJ8712P)

I have not seen this one any of my WJ's.
It appears you are going through the reboot sequence for the machine (you
didn't say what appeared on the small central display during boot...any
error code numbers?

However, I had something similar happen with an R590A recently --- I suggest
you try the following:

Remove power cable
Open the top and bottom covers (Wow there's a lot of space in there isn't
there!)
Carefully remove each connector then reseat it. I Sprayed a little
non-conductive cleaner into the females of each end then removed and
reseated them a couple of times (gets rid of the crud on the cables)
Make certain all cables are reseated, then replace power cord and give it a
try

If this does not work, likely you have a component that is heat sensitive.
The WJ's are serviced by BAE in Maryland (took over the plant from WJ)

Hi all,

I am on a listening expedition (KONG11, see www.kongsfjord.no for details)
and we have made some excellent catches. Just now, my WJ HF-1000A started to
turn itself on and off by itself. That is - it restarts. The S-meter light
is still on, but the rest of the radio is dark, and then it reboots like
when you turn it on. This happens with 10-15 seconds intervals.

I have had the radio in use for more than 24 hours, but this has never
occurred before. However, after turning it off for a while it seems to work
normally - at least for a now ...

Anyone have any experience with similar behavior? Any input would be greatly
appreciated. I have other receivers as well, but none that beat this one
(when it works).
