[Premium-Rx] Help! - WJ HF-1000A turns on and off by itself

Thank you all for your feedback and suggestions.

It is correct that I am going through the reboot sequence, but there are no
error codes, it's just like a normal reboot.

I will try what you suggested - but only tomorrow. There are a lot of North
American stations coming through right now, so I have to focus on this :-)
using my other receivers. Turning off the HF-1000A for 10 minutes seems to
make it work for 30 minutes, so I will have to schedule my use according to
this.

It seems like there could be a heat sensitive component since it helps to
turn the receiver off for a while. Anyone that has an idea what type of
component that could be?

I have 7 of these (plus one WJ8711A and 4 WJ8712P)

I have not seen this one any of my WJ's.
It appears you are going through the reboot sequence for the machine (you
didn't say what appeared on the small central display during boot...any
error code numbers?

However, I had something similar happen with an R590A recently --- I suggest
you try the following:

Remove power cable
Open the top and bottom covers (Wow there's a lot of space in there isn't
there!)
Carefully remove each connector then reseat it. I Sprayed a little
non-conductive cleaner into the females of each end then removed and
reseated them a couple of times (gets rid of the crud on the cables)
Make certain all cables are reseated, then replace power cord and give it a
try

If this does not work, likely you have a component that is heat sensitive.
The WJ's are serviced by BAE in Maryland (took over the plant from WJ)

Hi all,

I am on a listening expedition (KONG11, see www.kongsfjord.no for details)
and we have made some excellent catches. Just now, my WJ HF-1000A started to
turn itself on and off by itself. That is - it restarts. The S-meter light
is still on, but the rest of the radio is dark, and then it reboots like
when you turn it on. This happens with 10-15 seconds intervals.

I have had the radio in use for more than 24 hours, but this has never
occurred before. However, after turning it off for a while it seems to work
normally - at least for a now ...

Anyone have any experience with similar behavior? Any input would be greatly
appreciated. I have other receivers as well, but none that beat this one
(when it works).
