Not to break your bubble, but the 230 is a piece of junk.. skip it, way more
effort than joy you will ever receive for the effort and very limited
results..
indeed the 1310 exciter will MAYBE work.. some are set for analog
interface, others are set for digital interface.. the rub comes that they
wont talk to each other if the 1310 is not set for digital.. the ckt. card
from the factory is about 250.00 might not be quite that much. but close..
the 1310's come in about 10 flavors..as well as the 1310A and the 1310H ..
basically they can all be used very well with the 590, the 590 has a very
nice mute circuit, pin 16 to ground as I recall..relay keying get's a bit
hard to find , but you can do it with an outboard relay to control your PA..
if you need a book for any of this, let me know, I have all of these, and
can have you a copy made here at a local copy store.. good luck mac/mc

Subject: [Premium-Rx] 590H / xmitter?
hello all,
Recently acquired a Harris RF-590H and thought it might be nice to get a
matching transmitter. I believe that the RF-1310 was the matching rig for
that? Primarily, I am looking to use one rig to change freq on both and keep
the freq synchronized. Also want the Rx to go into stdby mode when I key the
Tx.
Does anyone know if I must find a 1310H or can any 1310 work with a 590H?
Also, I know that there is an amp and power supply (and antenna tuner) that
match this (thanks Bill S.), but they all get $$$. Anyone have experience
using some other standard run of the mill linear amp with a 1310? With only
.5W output, does that limit the options for an amp?
Also, a friend suggested I look into the RF-230 transceiver...Can anyone
point me to information on this radio and also any pictures?
Thanks!
