Hi Todd & group,

I've seen materials listed for this purpose in the McMaster Carr catalog and in Newark Electronics. Naturally, it's costly in small quantities. In WJ rx's I've had success using phenolic or nylon block similar to some HP units like 3582A and 8566B. That works fine for board retention inside the top cover. I have not experimented with padding for filters, etc.

regards

John Collins

Subject: [Premium-Rx] Weatherstrip Material Used in Racal, WJ Receivers

I was wondering if anyone might know of a substitute or replacement for the weatherstrip-like material used in the Racal and WJ receivers? In the Racal 6790 receivers it is used on the inside of the I.F. Crystal Filter Box to cushion and hold the plug-in crystal filters in place. In the WJ 8716/8718 series it is used inside the top cover to cushion and hold in place several of the vertically-mounted circuit cards. In the receivers I have, this material has long since dried up, lost its elasticity and started to crumble. The material looks like it came in a strip about 1/2 inch wide and about 3/16-1/4 inch thick when new. Maybe someone knows of a good substitute for this material? Thanks and 73 Todd Roberts WD4NGG.
