Geoff Steedman is still making the kits as well as
offering  modified receivers - I just saw him in
Birmingham a few months ago and he is advertising in
this month's  magazine of the Eddystone User Group
"The Lighthouse"
The modified 1650/6 is a nice radio but I agree with
Nigel, I wouldn't bother trying to use a stock 1650/6.
