[Premium-Rx] EDDYSTONE 1650/6 RECEIVER

Does anyone have any experience with the Eddystone 1650/6 Communications 
Receiver? I see them for sale from time to time and was thinking about buying one. 
I have heard that not all functions of the receiver are accessable manually? 
That is there may be certain modes/filters/etc. that one cannot access without 
computer control? Would this be a poor choice for a receiver if you wanted to
