I think my concern was more from the operating conditions of the op-amp. Its
output impedance is set by the series 50R.
If the input impedance to your receiver varies widely with frequency (as many of
them do), there can be points in the band where the op-amp is effectively
operating unterminated to all intents and purposes. This could lead to it
operating beyond its capability, and generating unpleasant effects like clipping
(in the worst case). You don't want this to happen at the front end of a
receiver. 
By inserting a pad, the op-amp is more or less certain to see 50R all the time
and its conditions are stable across the whole freqency range.
