Fellow Members-
Richard Dillman, W6AWO, located in the San Francisco bay area of California, has joined our membership. Dick's name may be familiar as he was one of the motivational forces to restore, and return to operation, the RCA marine radio shore transmitter known as KPH. The QTH of the TX is on the Point Reyes mesa, west of the town of Bolinas, California (See http://www.radiomarine.org/kph-proj.html ) This is an amazing project, being covered by QST, CQ, as well as many other publications. (Ed. note: Got time? Do a web search and read true radio history).
He found our List while looking for information on two MacKay receivers, a 3020A and a 3040A that were donated to the station. He hopes that fellow MacKay types will contact him with some suggestions for restoration.
Dick was first licensed back in 1958 as WV2BJK, then upgraded to a general and the WA2 call. His earliest memories of the radio hobby (age 4) was hauling home an old radios he found. To this day, he is still interested in old radios, as well as restoring them back to life. Since 1967, his QTH has been in the bay area, unfortunately, this location has also limited his establishment of an antenna farm.
Our newest member is not embarrassed by announcing that he is a heavy metal collector- Harleys, Willys, and Radios over 100lbs. This would eliminate the 390, it only weighs 82 pounds soaking wet!
Drop Dick an E-mail at: ddillman at igc.org
