[Premium-Rx] Racal 6790 Panoramic display

Why not take a signal off the synthesizer output and do an external mixer.
You could also connect a source follower after the first mixer that wouldn't
load the signal much. Then make a wide band IF to drive the spectrum
monitor. The RA6830 has provisional layout inside the mixer for a splitter
and amplifier ahead of the first filter. I have never seen a module
with these parts populated though. fc

Subject: [Premium-Rx] Racal 6790 Panoramic display

Hi,
I'm interested into hooking up a panoramic display to my RA6790. Ideally I
want to be able to monitor +-50Khz around the tuned frequency. The IF outlet
the RA6790 is of no use in this, since it's located after the filter banks
in the signal path. If I read the manual right there are 20Khz/BW filters
located on board A2 right after the first mixer and on A3 inbetween two amp
stages. So I probably could either pick up the signal (mod. on 455Khz) from
the interconnection of A3 and A4 if I restrict myself to monitor +-10Khz of
the tuned frequency, or pick it up right after the first mixer (don't know
if that would work at all; /decoupling /100Khz filter/center frequency
40.455Khz/...).
I wonder if there might be even some solution provided by Racal. They had
panadaptors for the the RA17 and RA12xx line. Is there something for the
RA6790? Maybe some listmember has further knowledge upon the issue and could
provide some info.
Thanks
