Fellow Members:

Geoff Fors, from Monterey, California, has joined our List. Geoff received his amateur radio license (WB6NVH) in 1970. Our newest member was associated with Quement Electronics of San Jose, at one time the largest ham radio and electronics store in the world (est. 1932). While he has a number of radios in his personal collection, interest in his Harris 590 has brought him to our List.

Over the years Geoff has become a historian of the radio systems used by the California High Patrol. His findings, published at http://www.mbay.net/~wb6nvh/chpradio.htm is truly excellent and worthy of a read!!!. Another area of interest is in the history of communications equipment used by the armed forces of the People's Republic of China. Information on this topic is obtained through summer trips to Shanghai and Beijing, China. Oh, did I forget to add that he has done research on the history of Mobile Telephones of the Bell System?

When he isn't gathering historic information he can be found practicing law at his office in Monterey, or attending swap meets and looking for that 'find' of the century under some card table, or working at his bench on the goodies he has carried home. He tells me that "I have so many pieces of equipment and receivers that there is some danger of the house collapsing (Ed. an attribute many of us share?)

Welcome Geoff-
