Hi,
I've had luck with a couple of tricks and figured I'd share this. I doubt
either is an original discovery, but may be new to the list.
1) Most of my Premium RX's and other items with displays, look like the
original operators spent the night shift seeing which items around the
installation would scratch the display screen or plastic cover. I've used a
product called Novus, for years, to rejuvenate pinball plastics and
playfield areas with great luck. I tried this stuff on the WJ-8940B display
screens and have avoided the usual trip to Tap Plastics (local custom
plastic joint). Good as new, really. Novus is a 3 weight abrasive system:
Course to remove gouges and scrapes / Medium to remove lighter scratches /
Fine to polish the de-scratched surface. I got mine via ebay under the
Pinball sub-section, and hear it is available at Wal-Mart and K-Mart.
2) I'm fortunate enough to have soil that permitted the water-drilling
installation of qty 4, ten foot 3/4" copper pipe ground rods. To keep the
soil conductive throughout the summer, without having to manually water-down
the area, I have plumbed each ground rod with a 4 gallon-per-hour dripper
connected to our timer-tripped sprinkler system. Works great.
Just a couple of tips from the Martha (make that Marty) Stewart of receivers
