Hi Keith
I've always preferred separate filters for USB and LSB.
The shape factor of a "proper" SSB filter is specifically tailored for the
appropriate sideband so, theoretically anyway, should give a better audio
response than a symmetrical filter.
Having said that, my 6790 came with just the single symmetrical SSB filter
fitted.
I've been intending to "upgrade" it for some time but have to admit that it
sounds fine to me as it is.
That could just be my dodgy hearing of course:-)
On many sets you don't have much choice anyway, as the offsets are
predetermined, so the ability of the 6790 to detect what's fitted and make use of it
accordingly is quite a nice bonus.
regards
Nigel
