Y'all
It seems that Chirpsounder has been replaced by ALE.
Where, instead of continuously sweeping the whole hf band, the
practise has evolved into rapidly checking the channels that you
can/the USAF etc. DO use/work. In the USAF's use, they are in
plum positions about 1/2 octave apart and are really HF backup
channels to UHF or sattelite when out of the CONUS.
Other US Gov/MIL services have seemed to leave HF radio.
I have heard (from here) Crapola out of the mil HF band. I (for a bit)
do wish I were back in Dublin, IE, where I heard US Cabinet
members on AF1 on a a phone patch to Andrews AFB in plain text
on 11175kHz.

Guinness is good for you.
So is radio.
