Francis,

If someone was flying 723s over Iraq that were 20 years old - someone hasn't
been reading the date codes... or complying with MIL standard 883. In which case
we all ought to duck down quick! :-) :-)

No military device has a working life of 20 years. 5 years of it is lost right
away in the initial burn-in process that they have to go through.

The design might be 20 years old, but the actual devices will be quite new. In
reliability terms - this is important when comparing to a device that actually
is 20 years old (as are the ones in my quad-8). These devices were also burnt-in
- so they are, inequivalent terms, about 40 years old now.

Makes you think, doesn't it?

Best regards.... Richard
