Two items.Or more actually.I recently married(Feb 19th 03).This affected
dxing time a lot.It also affected location.Gone is the fabulous groundfield
and giant skywire. In is the tiny loop(one turn around the house vertically)
and one 8ft ground rod.Bummer.Having a wife and kids is fabulous indeed
however and the 13 year old boy is getting addicted to dxing. His room looks
like mine did when I was his age(wires and components everywhere!).
The additions in my life since I last posted: Karen, my wife.Amanda, 17
years old,Timmy 13, and Mary Katherine 11.Instant family.Gee, I have so
little time now....And so much noise from tvs and computers.Ferrite
installation is still not done on the lines from the TV set,but will occur
soon.In the meanwhile, with restricted space, I find small loops work
well.A tiny one only six feet in diameter does ok.And the single turn
around the house is fun to series tune with external inductance for LF.Now
if I could only rotate the house.
Thank goodness my rigs are nice and sensitive.Too bad I am so close to a
couple of 5kw am stations that the gutters on the house are doing the whole
rectification crap generation thing.
It is a rental, so I can't really fix that.
Thank goodness I am moving, since the house is too small for all of us and
the baby thats on the way.Maybe room for just one rhombic at the next
place.....I suspect I will soon have a bit less time, but it pays to plan
ahead.Especially since I wont be sleeping properly....for the rest of my life.
