Hi All
Thanks for the replies -- a bit of a relief. However when I powered it up I
got a display and tuning response but no sign of a signal. May just need a
bit of post-transit battening down, or I'm not doing something right, or ??
BTW -- I just visited the listinfo page. It says in both cases -- military
and commercial -- qualifying receivers are "typically microprocessor
controlled", so that apparently isn't it, where the RF-550 is concerned.
The RF-505 and RF-590 are listed, but the RF-550 is not. I have no
experience with these, but do have a couple of RA-6790GM's and a Drake R8B.
Curious as to why the Watkins-Johnson 8718/16's are not listed, just the
HF-1000.
Is it a requirement that they be keypad controlled. Incidentally, this
RF-550 has the paddles, not the thumbwheels and it seems easy to tune vs.
the usual decadic setup -- the next significant digit advances as you pass
999, etc. and it has a "fast" button. All that stuff works -- just one
small detail - no signals.
Do any of the listed Premium Rx's do 4-channel ISB or UUSB or LLSB?
May be time to nominate a few more receivers.
Barry
