[Premium-Rx] My assistant and heat sink thoughts

Well, speaking of spectrum analyzer. Here is Michael giving my IFR1500 a
workout.

Just had a reply from Craig re: the power supply issue I mentioned and he
reminded me of an old trick that I have used in some of my Collins 51J
series of radios in the past. A bucking xfmr. Well, that's what happens when
the brain gets full. Some of the simple things get shoved out the left ear
onto the floor and forgotten.

I will find a little xfmr to fit inside the radio try knocking the voltage
down to 100 or so. Will certainly be easier than a new supply and simpler
than liquid Nitrogen. :-)

I also thought that perhaps spraying water based paint or similar material,
through the holes in the lid above the heatsink, (wash off the lid right
away) and drilling out the marked holes in the heatsink might be a simple
way to improve air flow through the radio. That solid slug of aluminum is
quite ineffective as a sink, containing the heat and restricting air flow
and thus heat dissipation.
