It is with a very heavy heart that I communicate the unexpected and untimely death of James Wuertele (NØXUE). James was killed early Sunday morning while he was riding his motorcycle from his home in Colorado Springs to begin his shift as an operator at the Black Hills power generation plane east of Pueblo. James leaves a wife and two daughters.
James' father, Jeff Wuertele (NØXCR), lives in Lake George, is a member of MARC, is very active on local simplex and repeater frequencies, volunteers with ARES (he operated with us supporting the Forest Service during the High Park Fire) and he is a Volunteer Examiner at our bi-monthly testing sessions.
James was the world to Jeff. For many years, before the pandemic hit, James and Jeff would converse on RMHAM DMR South every morning as James drive to work. If we were up that early, a few others of us would join in.
The Wuertele family is requesting that we all give them space and privacy while they work through this difficult time. We should refrain from discussing the accident (details are available in the Colorado Springs media) on the air. Please.
As more details become available (obituary, service, etc.) I will post them here. If you have questions or want to talk, please contact me directly.
If you would like to show your support, a GoFundMe campaign has been set up for the benefit of James' wife and daughters to defray the expenses and help support them in this transition time:

Donations in any amount are greatly appreciated.
