Are you interested in making your most distant contact ever? How does half a million miles sound?

The Deep Space Exploration Society (DSES) is looking for licensed amateur radio operators to assist with next weekend’s (October 27-29) ARRL International EME (Earth-Moon-Earth) Contest. We will be operating SSB and CW.

As one of, if not THE largest dish antenna eligible for the contest (back-of-napkin EIRP of 10 million watts), we have a good chance of crushing it - please give us a hand!

Our contest windows will be 6pm Friday, October 27th through 6am Saturday, then 6pm Saturday through 6am Sunday. Yup, that means we’ll be up all night, and why we’d like a few operators so we can rotate during the contest.

Anyone with a valid amateur radio license - technician and above - can be an operator for the contest and you do not need to be a member of DSES to assist.

The DSES radio telescope is located in Haswell, Colorado, which is about 2.5 hours from Colorado Springs or Monument and 1.5 hours from Pueblo.

However, our facilities can only support a limited number of people, so please contact Paul Sobon at Sobonpaul at gmail.com if you wish to participate and, need I say it? If you volunteer please be sure to show up and help us dominate this competition!

Ps. If you come, pack as if you’re camping - with no need for a tent. We have an unfinished building on site.
