I was trying to log in to the Central Area Traffic Net 2030z on 14.345 and the whole band was completely dead. Finally, was able to check in, but really tough. By 2230 we were able to run the Western Area Traffic Net on 14.345 and things were a bit better. My first time to experience this.

I thought the NOAA's animation of the effects were such a good educational visualization, I captured a video of it to be used for reference later.

I love how, at about 2000 UTC, the ionosphere pretty much hung up a "closed" sign and said, "hams, go outside and shovel your sidewalks...
or find a good book to read. There will be no more DX for you today!" 😂
Feel free to download that video and share it around with others who might be studying for their Amateur Extra license, or any other science fans you know.
And let's all be grateful for the atmosphere and magnetic field that protect us from that radiation, down here on the planet's surface!
