To All:
Got this from a friend back home:
I had the same thing happen to me. Caller ID had our phone number on it.
. Got the same answer from the phone company when I asked how did this
happen.
I’ve told some we are on the do not call list and that I’m turning them
in for calling me. The snooty bitch on the phone came back with... We
don’t care. We’ll keep calling you anyway.”
Bottom line, there is so much scamming because they cannot trace the
calls back. They often buy a phone with xx minutes on it... Pay cash.
No record, so authorities have no way to crack down, which is why the
snotty comments. They know they can’t be caught. They are the only ones
who know who owner is... It’s them.
...which is why such calls are made, often by Robo-callers....
consecutive phone numbers churning out. Many shoot a fast beep back
indicating that the phone isn’t connected or otherwise not working.
They’re just interested in whatever sticks to the wall, not the stuff
that slides off the wall, i.e., the no responses and hang-ups.
I’ve gotten some lately claiming my Widows subscription is ending soon,
and if I don’t reply, I’ll lose Windows and all my records.
Even had some posing as Dell representing telling me I have a rebate
awaiting me for recent service (HUH?)
Always be sure you NEVER say YES in ANY RESPONSE... What some do is
record the conversation, and, for instance if you are the head of the
household or any other question and you say yes... They then “register
you” as agreeing to something they are selling by inserting YOUR VOICE
agreeing to a contract! These have been very costly for some people.
When presented in court they play the phone message with your inserted
“Yes” and it is in their text of ending up as “Yes I agree..... etc.
They hold up in many court with a lawyer who gets a comparison to make a
voice print of you saying “YES” and it matches the one the crooks
have... where you said “YES” ... to their question. Same voice, so it
was you, so pay up!
Sad world we live in.
