HI folks,
a reminder the PPRAA will have a workday at the Ellicott site on Thursday, August 6, 2015. We will try to get started around 9AM at the work site. Please bring work gloves, head gear and dress suitable to be outside 3-4 hours. Bring sunscreen if you use it. It would be a good idea to bring liquid refreshment to stay hydrated.......temperature is expected to be near 90 degrees. If wanted, bring your lunch or we can go to the nearby sub shop at your own expense. We'll finish work between 12 and 1PM. We have found with the hot weather it's usually best to not work in the afternoon.
We'll most likely have a work day each week until we get the first tower in place with it's antenna(s). That is probably 4-5 or more work days. We are making progress but a little slow sometimes.
This upcoming workday we plan to assemble the Cushcraft A3S yagi antenna, relocate some tower sections, sort and measure coax and work on guy cables.
The holes for the tower should be dug in the next 2-3 weeks. We have a backhoe coming in to do that. It should be at little or no charge.
Parts for the rotor should arrive tomorrow, Wednesday.
We have a donation of coax that should be on site in the next few days.
I will have a listing of items and costs to finish the first tower at the next board meeting and club meeting.
There is a 2 meter/70 centimeter antenna and suitable radio on site for talk-in, repeaters, nets and etc.
There is a 160 meter wire dipole antenna up and working.
There is a Butternut 80-10 meter vertical up and working.
Yes, we are making progress....a little slow sometimes but the site is moving forward.
CU at the workday and 73.
Jim Harris, W0EM
