Doug (Cc: Group) --

Part of the problem of sending URLs is that they are often long, which, as
you stated, invites errors and fatigue. One solution is to send shorter
URLs. There are a number of online utilities that do just this - especially
in the age of Twitter that limits messages to 140 characters.

The one I use most is TinyURL (www.tinyurl.com). I put a link to it on my
toolbar and it instantly creates a shorter index URL to use in place of the
longer complete URL.

i.e.,
>
http://www.arrl.org/news/amateur-radio-disaster-response-in-philippines-wind
s-down

Becomes

http://tinyurl.com/km6lxfx

Now, most browsers no longer require the http:// or the www. So you can
simply send

tinyurl.com/km6lxfx

and that, when copied and pasted into the browser bar should also get you
there.

One other tip, for those unfamiliar with sending E-mail addresses via CW, a
few years ago a new character was added -- the "@" symbol used in E-mail
addresses. The correct character for "@" is AC (run together) i.e.,
.--.-. It's easy to remember because the @ looks like an "a" within a "C"

Hope you find these suggestions helpful.
