> Here is the bill I mentioned in the Tuesday night net. http://www.leg.state.co.us/clics/clics2014a/csl.nsf/fsbillcont3/9E51EFFAC756C27587257C300006317B?open&file=1216_ren.pdf The Section EC, Robert Wareham (N0ESQ), has been working with Sent Brophy and others to make sure ham radio interests are taken into consideration. N0ESQ has briefed this on the last two Sunday ARES nets. He has indicated that it might be a means to get PRB-1 type protections into Colorado state law.

> For those unfamiliar with PRB-1, it is a limited directive from the FCC to local governments to give extra consideration to amateur radio towers and antennas when it comes to zoning and code restrictions. PRB-1 does not mean that a city has to allow a 50 ft mast, it just has to give it some extra consideration. PRB-1 has no affect on covenants or other voluntary limits. While PRB-1 is limited, getting it coded into state law would probably be a good thing. For more about PRB-1, this site does a decent job it laying it out: https://telecomlawfirm.com/ham/ . Here is a listing of states which currently have a PRB-1 like law: http://www.arrl.org/state-statutes .
>
> If we need to engage is a letter writing/phone calling campaign, N0ESQ will coordinate with the region and district ECs to get the word out. In the mean time, you might keep an eye on HB14-1216. I will try to post updates to https://www.facebook.com/PikesPeakARES .
