Colo Spgs is normally used when giving your QTH in a QSO. In message traffic place of origin to someone you know, "CS CO" is frequently used.

I think that the USPS' preferred abbreviation is COLO SPGS. It's enough to
still make the "CO" afterwards redundant, yet there is hardly any ambiguity.
At least for domestic QSO's.

Colorado Springs CO"---it seems like forever. Hints on how to best
abbreviate it? It's handy that "Colorado Springs" more or less makes "CO"
redundant, at least for normal QSOs. But still...there must be a better
way...
