Also, my wife was in the grocery store this morning and ran into an elderly couple who had been ordered to evacuate last night. They didn't know what to do, so they had just left their house without bringing anything along, and then slept in their car. They were at the grocery store buying breakfast. Were not aware of shelters, and did not know how to get to the high school when directed.
Despite 24/7 television and broadcast radio coverage, newspaper, Internet, and reverse 911 system, some people are amazingly unaware of what is going on around them. It suggests that everybody should be looking out for people who may be disoriented or confused about their options...
