Randall will need to note how far his prospective property is away from the two airports here. I believe the rule is 1 meter of antenna height for every 100M distance from the COS airport, unless there is a higher structure directly between him and the airport. Also a lot of new homes have covenants or other restrictions on outside antennas. I would suggest looking near the Black Forest or Falcon areas. But there is a small airport near Falcon as well, and since that one has a short runway, I think the rule there is 1M for every 50M distance.

ham community for response.

Fellow Hamers,
I'm moving to Co Springs (in the military) and am looking at houses that
have at least 0.5 acre lot so I can put up a 70 foot tower with a 20 meter
quad on top. Do any of you know resources I can talk to about making sure I
can do a 70 foot tower. I'm looking at purchasing an AB-577/GRC with the
MK-806 75 foot extension (google it http://www.ontariosurplus.com/ab577.htm,
this thing is very cool)
V/R,
Randall - AD5HU
