Thanks for all of the replies.

I called an Alinco repair facility and told them my situation. The tech 
said that the transformer in that model has no taps and that replacing 
it would cost about what a new unit would. So, I listed it on EBay in 
hopes of recovering most of my expense in order to buy a proper one. He 
also said that it WOULD NOT work on 120V mains. I suppose I could use it 
with an adapter, but have just decided to offload it to someone in 
Europe hopefully.

P.S. If anybody has a DV-330 MVT for sale, I'm a buyer. GigaParts lists 
them for $154, but they are out of stock and have no ETA on them.
