All,
At the last meeting we announced the new PPRAA forum page at: http://ppraa.forumotion.net
Please drop by the forum, register, and check it out.
Registration is a simple process, just click on "Registration", read the agreement, and fill in the blanks. "Registration" can be found near the top just under the Pikes Peak Radio Amateur Association banner.
So... Register... Login... Join discussions!
Here is a very quick tutorial:
If you are new to forums you will find they are an easy way to exchange information or collaborate on project activities.
The organization of the forum is rather simple with 3 main parts.
- Category
- Forum
- Topics
When you browse to the forum the first time, you will notice it is divided into sections called categories. The categories a non-registered person will see are "PPRAA-General Topics", "Visitor and New Member Topics", and "Ham Radio Topics". Each category broken down into a list of forums. If you select a forum, for example "So You Want to be a Ham in the Pikes Peak Area?", you will see a list of topics which you can open and read. That is basically the forum. You will notice that as a non-registered user many of the forums are visible, but the topics are hidden.
When you log in as a registered user of the forums, more categories and access will be available to you. When the administrators see a new user, and find you on the current club roster, we will give you additional permissions to view and comment on the topics in that club's set of forums.
"Informational forums" are locked and require a moderator to update. However, most forums are available for adding new topics, or adding your comments/feedback to existing topics.
For example, as you browse through the various forums in the "Ham Radio Topics" category you will come across a topic on "Common Mode Chokes". I am interested in "Common Mode Chokes", so I found a forum I thought the topic would fit under, then I added a new topic called "Common Mode Chokes" and typed in my comments and questions. To add your comments about this topic simply just fill in your comments in the "Quick Reply" section at the bottom and click send. You can also edit any of the topics or comments you have created.
After a few minutes you will find the forum is easily navigated, joining in friendly discussion is strait forward, and adding new topics under the appropriate forum is as simple as typing a question, and clicking a button.
If you have any questions contact K0SDD-Stephen or me:

We'll keep an eye on the forums, and make sure new members get full access, as soon as possible. Come join the discussions!!
73,
Dan
