Hi,
The PPRAA has a new member recognition program. Any member who participates
in any recognized contest will receive a nice certificate from the club.
There will also be quarterly certificates and annual awards. Get your
contest information to a contest awards committee member and get recognized
for your dedication to amateur radio.
Below is the text of the rules for the contest. They can be found on the

1. Objective: To increase PPRAA member participation in amateur radio by
recognizing
contest participants in amateur radio contests.
2. Eligible participants: Any member of the PPRAA whose membership is
current. The month
of January is a grace month as it starts the payment period for club dues.
Other clubs cannot
participate. PPRAA members participating in contests under the call sign of
another club
cannot make submittals of contacts made under that club’s call sign.
3. What contests are included: Any contest recognized by a major amateur
radio group. This
includes any domestic or international contest.
4. How to enter: Members may enter by one of three ways.
a) Emailing manually completed contest coversheets (scanned and legible)
or cabrillo
file to contestawards at PPRAA.org .
b) Mail via USPS manually completed contest coversheets with log sheet
copies or
printed cabrillo files to:

c) Contest coversheets and printed logs/cabrillo files may be presented to
any contest
awards committee member at any time or location.
d) Entries must be received by the awards committee no later than the 15
days after the
end of the contest.
5. What awards will be presented:
(a) The Awards Committee will review each submittal. The Awards
Committee's
decisions are final subject to PPRAA board approval.
(b) Submittals with obvious errors or obviously inflated scores will not
be considered for
awards. Resubmitting is allowed for obvious errors but not for obviously
inflated
scores.
(c) Certificates will be presented to all, including Awards Committee
members, who
make submissions.
(d) Two major categories of Single-Operator and Multi-Operator will be
utilized for
quarterly certificates and annual awards.
(e) The two major categories above will be divided into subcategories of
QRP (5 watts
PEP), Low Power (<=150 watts PEP) and High Power (> 150 watts PEP).
(f) Quarters will be 1 Nov - 31 Jan, 1 Feb - 30 Apr, 1 May - 31 Jul, and 1
Aug - 31 Oct,
(g) Quarterly certificates will be presented in all six subcategories.
(h) Annual Awards will be plaques, trophies or similar items and will be
awarded for each
of the six subcategories.
(i) Quarterly and annual certificates and awards will be based on total
points regardless
of contest.
( j) Quarterly and annual certificates and awards will be reviewed by the
PPRAA board
before winners are announced. The review will include an examination of all
scores
submitted to assure awards are appropriately based on claimed scores.
(k) For multi-operator submittals awards will be issued only to the
submittal call sign.
Other operators will receive certificates only.
(l) Certificates including quarterly certificates will be presented at the
clubs monthly
meeting. Those not claimed within three meetings will be mailed. PPRAA will
pay
certificate and award mailing costs from the budget discussed below.
(m) Annual awards will be presented at the club’s Christmas Party.
(n) Certificates will be presented for contests beginning 1 November 2006.
5. Who are members of the Awards Committee:
(a) Jim Harris, AB0UK - Chairman
(b) Mike Anderson, WV7T
(c) Dave Sloan, N0EOP - Alternate
(d) The PPRAA board may replace members or fill vacancies as it deems
necessary.
(e) Contest awards committee members will provide training in completing
logs and
coversheets when requested.
6. What is the budget:
(a) Awards are based on the availability of club funds and sponsors
(b) If funds or sponsors are not available, awards may consist of
certificates only.
(c) Annual budget for the club is estimated to be $250.00.
7. How are the above rules changed:
(a) At the discretion of the club's board (with or without the
recommendation of the club's
membership) or the Awards Committee.
