Packet Radio - Tech-night - on April 21, 2011 7:30 pm

From N3BUB:

I will be holding a packet demonstration on this upcoming Tech-Night.
Basics on commands, settings, and how to use it will be covered.
There will be a few packet stations setup in-house to play with, and
All are encouraged to bring their own equipment either working or not.
I have a bulletin board setup on one station, and a PBBS mail drop and node
on another to demonstrate automatic mail forwarding capabilities of the system.
I believe Kevin (KB3EJM) is bringing 1 or more setups also.

Bring your tnc’s rigs and cables, and soldering stuff if you want to setup
your equipment and we will tune them up and set the parameters in tnc.
Preferred if you make the radio to tnc cable up before the session to save
Time, but not necessary. I have cables for AEA PK-232, PK-88 and KAM3 units.
Anything else will have to be made up. Also bring the manuals if you have them
Since each tnc is slightly different from each other in command settings.

I will have 2 batteries to run rigs, so please bring power cords with either
Alligator clips or ¼” rings on them, or your own power supply.

If time permits, we will discuss what it will take to set up a permanent packet
System in the county.

APRS is not my specialty, so if anyone wants to give a talk on it, please feel
Free to do so. If not, I will touch on it briefly.

We can also touch upon file forwarding techniques between stations, although
It will be left for last, time permitting,

Hope all can attend this session, bring your stuff, questions and I will do my
best
To answer all questions and setup any equipment that shows up.
