[Pcraces] Stuff

Hello all!

Wanted to drop a line and update everyone on the list on a
couple of items.

	1. The HF antenna is broken. Hoping maybe that this weekend
Bill and Eric may have time to pull it down so we can assess the damages
and get repairs stuff on the way. I have monofilament 50lb fishing line
to guy it with when it goes back up. Also for a small pass the hat we
can purchase a DX Engineering base plate for our HF antenna that will
allow it to tilt up and down and have places to put guy wires on it.
Will save a lot of effort on our climbers, ask Eric what it was like to
put that puppy up last time.

	2. The net this week will be run by Mark, N9POA, on the
repeater. Next week will be simplex night and I will try to make it to
the EOC to use our radios there.

	3. I have talked with Mike Rollings from SEMA and we are going
to get a workout in June. Mark you calendars now and be prepared to
spend some time on the full scale exercise. Not only is the Newport
thing going on for us BUT SEMA has decided to active the majority of the
states ham (ARES, RACES) for the exercise. They will be passing traffic
all over. Mike wants to get with us about doing some on the air tests
with us and the state ham station to see how well we can communicate
directly with SEMA.

	4. The docking station is installed on the laptop. I will try
to call tomorrow or run by the EOC for a few minutes and see if there is
a 9pin to 9pin serial cable laying around we can scab onto. We also
need about 50' or better of cat5 cable for the wx station and another
10' - 20' of cat5 for the connection to the internet with the laptop.

	5. We need to schedule meetings for April and May. I need dates
from all of you in order to try and get the most of us there. Please
send me the dates this week.

	6. Storm season is coming on us quickly. Keep some extra
batteries, flashlights, emergency power, and candles ready.

	7. Who would be interested in getting together a coffee meet
for the Parke/Verm HAMS? It would be nice to meet everyone that is
licensed in the two counties. Maybe some knowledge could be passed from
one ham to another about something worthwhile or worthless :) I
"THINK" I know most all the hams in Parke County but I could be wrong
(about 10?), and I know of 5 hams for sure in Verm county but I am sure
that there are more to meet. Just and idea but we need to start
somewhere.

Ok that is more than enough for this edition of my ramblings.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
