[PCR-1000] EEPROM? Very poor HF sensitivity

I saw a response about the possibility of the tuning being off and wanted to offer another thought. I got my PCR1000 shortly after they first came out and sometime later it went deaf also.   

I sent it to Icom and on the repair sheet they said it had suffered lightning damage and/or over voltage on the front end (static electricity discharge ?) According to the invoice they replaced the following:
1 UPC2721GV E1 PCR1000       $6.87
2 1SV271  R8500              $0.94
1 1SV307  T8A                $0.72
1 MCR10 EZHJ 390 Ohm         $0.07
1 C1608 JF 1H103Z .001M      $0.54
1 C1608 X7S 1C 104TKA 2GXAT  $0.27

Then they charged me $75 for an hour of labor and $6.76 for shipping for a total of $92.11 to get it fixed.  That was back in 2001 and it's been fine ever since.

Given that you picked this up at a flea market, you may not want to send it in to get it repaired but I suspect you can find the schematic on the internet and perhaps find where this assortment of parts are.  I suspect they are part of the front end given their repair notes.

I also noted you said it worked fine on FM broadcast but those can be such strong signals it may be a little deceptive to try and judge the sensitivity based on their reception.

PSS  I clearly have too much stuff in my files if I still have 10 year old repair bills on my gear!!!
