HI John
Is it connected to a "real" serial port or a USB to serial port converter?
Is the serial port enabled in the computer BIOS?
Do the settings in the BIOS = OS settings ex. IO range and IRQ?
Some software will see, but not support COM ports >5, I have had problems
getting equipment talking on them. AND some software will see the USB to
serial port converts but will not work on them. Try it on a real COM port 1
or 2.
The cable is straight though, pin 1 = pin 1.
Make sure you are not using a null modem cable AND
Make sure the cable is plugged in securely.
