The USB spec is 16ft. maximum for  USB cable interconnects
between PC and device. There is no difference in "USB 1.0"
and "USB 2.0", which from the context of your question 
appear to concern data transfer rates. In reality, there is only
one current published standard, and that is USB 2.0. This
standard incorporates the slower transfer rates of the old 
USB 1.0.

I see no reason why you couldn't, but the cost could become
prohibitive. It would also be fairly easy to "fully remote" a
PCR-1000 using the Internet (or a LAN, etc.), so theoretically,
you could control it from anywhere (and even have the audio as well).
The only real limitation is cost.

Do you have a particular application/problem? More info
would be helpful.
