The latest version of the PCR-1000 runs perfectly with Win-XP Pro, and
Win-ME.

I have a desktop that runs Pro, and a notebook that runs ME.

Both have Radio Shack model 26-103 serial to USB adapters.

I run ICOM 2.2, Bonito 4.5, and the latest version of TalkPCR without any
problems.

I did manage to "hang" ICOM 2.2 software once.  It locked the squelch in the
"full on" mode, and it wouldnt turn off no matter what I did.  As usual,
ICOM had "never heard of that problem" and had no fix for it.  A manual
un-install (throught the control panel), and a re-install fixed the problem,
and it hasnt happened since.

I have used the decoders in Bonito for CW, SSTV, and PSK with no problems.

Bonito's documentation is pretty bad.  I found a number of features that are
not even mentioned in the manual.  Also a few others that wouldnt work
properly if you follow their instructions (made some workarounds to fix
them).

As a final note, I do suggest you use a receiver preselector with the 1000,
as its so broadbanded it will demod all sorts of images, spurs, and
harmonics.  I found the MFJ-1045C to be a good price vs performance device
($67.00 mail order).
