  Icom has been acting like they've wanted the product to fail since
  the beginning.  They really seem to have their head in the sand when
  it comes to the fact that ham people and open-source software people
  think in much the same way: e.g. free exchange of information is a
  highly held value.  It strike me as very odd, especially considering
  it wasn't that many years ago that Icom published schematics of their
  products in the manuals.

  I suppose it could be said that the PCR-1000 is not targeted
  specifically at the ham community, but I'm not sure who else would
  buys these things.

  Anyways, the control codes for the PCR-1000 are easily found via
  Google.  If you want better software, it is easy enough to write.
  I've been thinking about doing a Mac OS X version for some time (if
  I could only find the time...).  Good integration between the
  PCR-1000 and Black Cat's "MultiMode" would be really cool.
