[PCR-1000] PCR1000 usb to serial adapter & windows XP

I bought the USB 2 Serial at Best Buy, which I can't seem to find a name on
now, and am using it with XP.  No problems.

I did have some older USB/Serial adaptors and have been unable to find
drivers to update them for use on XP and although they sometimes seem to
work, they usually quit at the most inopportune times!

I considering buying a laptop today that does not have a 9-pin serial port.
Has anyone had success using the PCR-1000 with a usb to serial adapter
running under win xp?  I seem to recall a few posts that indicated problems
using this configuration.
