You're probably right. I think Opto must have changed the Digi
completly.
There's even no interface IC for RS232 in my Digi and it's performance
is terrible, although it measures within spec. I've never read or heard
about that 3,5mm - 9pin d-sub cable, neither on the opto site or the
manual, until mentioned here and now seing it on their website.

It's the same approach I use. Filters to keep out FM radio and a
telescopic
antenna tuned to the prefered frequency. But having Digi and Scout40
side
by side will give the Scout40 a 3 to 1 advantage in reliable captures.

How does this work when using the Digi with an R10 to reaction tune?
Surely the Digi has a normal IC-V signal and the cable does the rs232
translation? Otherwise, that 3,5mm jack must have: Ground, TX data,
RX data, IC-V signal. The most I've seen is a stereo plug that can
carry two signals and ground.
