[PCR-1000] TalkPCR v2.9 Beta

I always thought that once it was stable, there was a full release and it
was no longer in "beta". I rarely download anything in "beta" because I
figure it is still in testing and not quite ready for prime time. If
something stays in beta for a year, I figure either there is no interest in
the product by others or no longer any interest by the author.

I would expect these perceptions are the rule rather than the exception,
which brought up the questions to start with. When I saw that TalkPCR was
still beta, I decided not to download it, rather going with the Icom
standard bundle which works well enough for me at this point in time. Maybe
if I devoted more time, I might wish to give TalkPCR a hard look or Bonito
(my unit was pre-Bonito but I ordered a copy anyway....for what I do, it was
not a wise purchase)...

Hello Jim

>> !! Maybe I am missing something here.

Yes, why does software have to be updated on a regular basis,
if it works well no need for it. I know lots of good software
that has been spolied by updates. When you do update software,
it should be done to make it better, not just because it have
been some time since last update.

I am sure that if you have some realy good reasons for a upgrade
of TalkPCR, then the autor will be happy to hear about it.

Regards Max
