While I haven't read the May listings for the Probe software as of yet, =
I have some questions I hope you all can help me with the following:
1. Comments on TalkPCR vs. Bonito (Rev. 4.0 or higher (also known as BON =
CS40)
2. How is the audio output interfaced with a given computer (e.g. =
laptops and PCs). My question relates to levels. The laptop I plan to =
use has only a microphone audio input and the audio output is intended =
for earphones/headphones (or for that matter any higher impedance =
device).
3. How are the "Birdies" on this receiver as compared to other scanning =
receivers? I've typically owned Uniden products (besides my Amateur =
Radios).
4. Comments on Search and Scan speeds compared to other typical =
scanning receivers (e.g. AOR, Uniden, etc.).
5. a. Can you have the PCR-1000 perform a search between any two =
frequencies inputted?
b. When/if this can be done, would I be able to see the applicable =
spectrum being searched?
6. Comments on the TrunkPCR1k software and utility of.
7. Have any of you interfaced this receiver with any PDA's? Which ones =
and what comments can you offer about your experiences?
8. Which version of TalkPCR allows the user to scan more than one bank =
at a time? Is it Version 2.3 and above?
9. Comments on interfacing the receiver to the controlling receiver via =
the USB port. Which USB version?)
10. What is the dynamic range of the RF input to the receiver?
11. Is it true the user cannot use the Spectrum/Scope function when in =
the SSB mode?
12. Can I be receiving an FM station and still keep an eye on nearby =
frequencies via the spectrum/scope function?
13. Same Question as 12 above but while searching between two inputted =
frequencies (e.g. listening to 146.910 while displaying the 2m band, =
etc.)
14. Receiver runs thermally hot? Comments & Tips?
15. Tips/instructions for loading the TalkPCR software (e.g. what to do =
or not do).
16. Where can I see a demo on the receiver? I recently went to a ham =
store in VA but was frustrated by not being able to see it run, play =
with it, etc. I'm in NJ but visit VA (Northern VA) & PA (Pocono and =
Philly areas) from time to time.
17. Are their any design differences between receivers shipped with the =
older ICOM software and newer units shipped with the Bonito software?
18. Is it true the user can only view a max. of 400kHz at a time? =
Example: If I wanted to plug in 144 and 148 MHz, could I search between =
those two frequencies and watch the spectrum as it did it, etc.?
19. I've heard that the WinRADIO can search/scan at a rate of 50 =
Chan./Sec. but read some place that the Icom receiver is over all head =
over heals better than the WinRadio unit. My Bearcat 2500 handheld =
scans and searches at 100 Chan/sec in "Turbo Scanning/Search" mode and =
20 Chan/Sec. in the "Normal Scanning/Search Mode." Am I going to be =
greatly disappointed in the scanning/search speed of the PCR-1000??
Phew!!!!
Sorry for all the questions but did my best to read many past Q&A's on =
this beast.
Still hope to get one!
One use I'm hoping to take advantage of is letting it search and store =
frequencies between any two inputted (or previously stored) frequencies =
while I'm sleeping or visiting various areas, locations. Any comments =
on this potential use?
