  I always pretty much figured,when talking "discone",one was as good as 
another as far as broad-band use.

  That was until I tried the "Scantenna". I've used Radio Shacks,Icom's & 
Diamonds brand of discones & ,while all of them performed much the 
same,although Diamond's is much more sturdy than most,the Scantenna out 
performed them all.

  If I had to pick one over all uhf/vhf antenna to use I'd go with a 
Scantenna.It can be even more effective if used with a rotor & is one of 
the few antenna's that do well at low vhf AND 800megs .I include a link
