[PCR-1000] packet output

I have noticed, aside from the fallacy of Micro$oft$ superiority, that I 
seem to get more vertical "noise" when I use the packet output. Is it 
better to ground everything, use a very short audio patch cord and place 
the PCR-1000 at the PC or build the mother of all shielded patch cords 
and move the PCR-1000 to the other side of the room/house/property?

Just wish they'd port TalkPCR to Linux
