fyi wxsat provides an example part file (noaa.wav  -  325k) in its download
that might be helpful. sounds very similar to the soundbite example on your
site - clear/no noise.  your 3s wav file gives 2 lines, noaa.wav gives 55
lines so its even possible to decode this and get an image of sorts
(southern italy by the looks of things).  that would at least determine
whether the problem is in getting a file or with processing it.  when all
said and done you don't need wxsat to get your first recorded file from a
sat pass.

you're right wxsat is tricky but you can muck about with processing with
greater confidence once you have a good .wav file.  in systems terms the
toughest issue is getting out of the noise - gettign a good signal.  ive
found if youre really lucky and pick up an overhead pass from say NOAA17
late am in uk, then you can get very noisy pictures (sound) with a discone -
not very well sited for this sort of thing either as i use it for local
airband work mostly.

Out of interest:- is it practical to make recent *wav file available for
download from your shack ? I was thinking of doing this from here once I get
consistent results - its a weekend hobby so this might be some time away yet
!!.  im trying to get something interesting together for daughters school
geography/technology project and processing images of areas other than our
own would be of great help to show global nature of weather monitoring.
