[PCR-1000] Help, Aerial issue?

Hi,

Like you, I have 2 aerials - a Discone and a long wire.  On and around
14 MHZ - I have the same problem with the long wire. With the attenuator
switched in, the noise floor (noise roar?) disappears completely.  I
have put the problem down to intermodulation products with stations in
the 9.0~10 MHZ bands. (In other words, front end overloading). The
PCR-1000 has a wide-open front end, and uses diode switching for
bringing in the different front-end circuits. A possible cure (which I
haven't tried) is to use a passive preselector. The reason I haven't
tried it, is because the PCR-1000 is working well enough for me on 14MHz
with the Discone and tuning would become a 2-handed affair. I seem to
recall that there were other threads on this issue, and its mentioned in
