Well, I would say the Icom software is the problem.  This scanning stop
issue have been reported since the day this list has been created.
Do youself a favor and try TalkPCR or one of the other packages.
I can scan for days without problems using TalkPCR, but the Icom software
always seemed to have problems.  I have not tested 2.0, so I can't say if
this issue is fixed.
