additionl info

.... which will only work if you have no jack plug inserted in the EXT-SP
socket. Best remove this for initial test in case you have faulty speaker
or incorrect pc setup

Of course we could all be barking up the wrong tree.

*** as mentioned before double click volume control to mute/unmute

*** you can also double click squelch control to defeat any squelch
setting - you should hear noise whatever freq

*** Note that there are some combinations of setup which are invalid. eg
230k bandwidth will only work on WBFM. WBFM will only work with 50k or 230k
filter.  Suggest you try either
1. somewhere in airband eg 125.000,000 AM and 6k filter for some squeaks
and farts. turn up the volume to suit
2. a local FM broadcast freq around 98 -108 Mhz WBFM and 230k filter

tyr clicking the small BS button (bottom middle - its not what you might
think !!). You should get a default display with vertical bars showing
carriers - this might at least prove your radio is switched on.

Theres something else which is slightly misleading for the new user:-
You may have
* started the software
* clicked AGREE on the slash screen
* waited a few seconds to get the "Com Error" screen
* pressed "Run as Demo"

This will display the prog correctly but give the "mute" (um deaf really)
symptoms you report. You are not actually connected to the radio, but
you're operating the s/w a standalone demo mode - ideal for those who don't
have a radio but wish to evaluate the software.

Suggest you start software again
* click AGREE on the slash screen
* wait a few seconds to get the "Com Error" screen
* press "Change Com Port" and select the com port you think you have your
radio on. Press "Try again"
* If it "dings" and returns the "Com Error" screen then either you have
selected incorrect com port or power is not connected to your radio.
* If all is well you should be in business

Let us know the outcome so we can help others

thks & gd luck
