The radio shack model is the same one I use. I've been pretty happy with it.
I have a couple of Longwires for under 30MHz range.
I've found the longwires work better that the discone in the lower freq's
I'm running an Ameco TPA as well. It is very good at attenuating signals on
each side of what your tuned to. (This makes the tuned signals really jump
out)
I had an FRG-100 here on my desk and the PCR-1000/Ameco combo sounded every
bit as good as the FRG.
